Ubisoft On A Roll!!

Upcoming Games

Ubisoft seem to be unstoppable these last few months and it is making me super excited to see the release of their upcoming games. With such an excellent reception on the Beta for The Division recently, i wasn’t really sure what to expect from the new FarCry, with the previous instalment being a success and with such a big jump from all the other games i wasn’t sure if this was something Ubisoft could pull off.

With such an interesting concept to work with, i cant imagine they could go wrong with the idea but the main focus would be on how creative they could be with the concept and what things they could bring to the table to help the game go that extra mile but still stay within the style of the Far Cry that we know.

And they have definitely taken this game by the horns and produced features that i didn’t even expect but really enhanced the gameplay for the player. From the way in which you interact with the other animals within the game and also how you interact with other tribes and humans. The game definitely shows they have done their research and worked hard to try and replicate what life would be like during the Stone Age.

Although this has been a part of many of the previous Far Cry games, this is something that really dominates Primal. A feature that lies between you progressing successfully in the game or becoming a character that is against every living thing within the game. Although you interact with animals within the others games, the animals in Primal are on a completely different level. For example, if you come across a dead animal that is a clear indication that a predator is in the area and you should be ready for an attack or if you kill and animal, the carcass will attract near by predators where as before these elements of the game would not impact you as a player.

Hunting enables your character to gain resources and upgrades weapons and items within your inventory. You are now able to set up traps and even use other animals to assist you in your hunting. Similarly to the other games, hunting enables you to gain resources that allow you to upgrade weapons and other items within your inventory but you can now do other things like set up traps to capture animals and other prey.

This is definitely an aspect of the game i am really excited about!! Becoming a Beast Master. Of course the game is set in the Stone Age, when humans were not at the top of the food chain and had to work alongside the animals in order to survive, so having certain beasts as your allies is something that would work in your favour and enable you to go through the game with more ease than being against anything with a pulse.

For example, lets say you come across a village with a leader that has destroyed your village and you want a bit of revenge or want to retaliate and take their village, this is an aspect of the game that enables you to use a beast at your will to help you accomplish a mission.

Along your travels, you could tame a cute little wolf that you could then command and use as an extra aid on top of the weapons you already have to assist you on any take downs and mission you would get involved with. The wolf would also growl to warn you of near by enemies and just almost be an extra pair of eyes through your time in Oros (the world in which you live in).

Another feature that i love about this game is the fact that you can almost pick and choose  your beast in the same way that you would pick and choose a gun you may use for a specific mission. For example, lets say you wanted to hunt a fairly large animal like a Yak or something like that, you may choose to pick a animal that falls on the cat family. These animals are more agile and quick but still carry a big punch compared to if you may want to attack a large village and want an animal that has high resistance and can take a lot of hits, you may choose to pick a bear to assist you on that mission. This feature also works with if you want to go in all guns blazing or if you want a more stealthy approach with you attack.

Also another feature to add to the never ending list of awesome features is the Owl within this game. In the previous Far Cry game you would personally have to use another pieces of equipment or get close to the animal you wanted to take in order to put it on the map and this could either cause you to get seen by the enemies or cause you to miss certain enemies and your in a situation where you are over run by all these enemies but with the new feature of the owl, you can get a clear birds eye view of the area and all the enemies and threats for the mission. This really prevents you being limited to what you can purely see at eye level and allow you to really gage what you are really walking in to.

You can also use the Owl to either command your other beast or you can literally use the Owl to go in and attack enemies or drop bombs on villages without being detected. I feel this is such great selling point for the game for me and a feature will really be game changer for the Far Cry franchise.

Although this isn’t really the final verdict for the completed game, from what i have seen i feel this game is definitely on track for setting an even higher standard for the Far Cry Franchise when released. With a concept that has proven very popular recently, i feel the survival aspect of this game has really been thought through and been in favour of the player. It really causes you to think and live in that era almost evolve as a character that is able to master any problem that comes their way.

Overall, i am very impressed with this game and cant wait to see the final product and any other surprised to come. I feel the only let down for this game could be the narrative not being rounded and complete and allowing the game to be dominated mostly by the side missions and “random” events within the game.

I would recommend this to anyone who loves the Far Cry series. I feel the style is still the same and you can still feel the Far Cry vibe of the game but i feel that have definitely take a good jump and taken all successful aspects of all the other previous games and implemented them with in Far Cry Primal

Beta on Point!!

Game, Game Reviews, Upcoming Games

After being MEGA excited about this game when the trailer game out last year, i couldn’t  wait to see what other footage and information Ubisoft would release along the way and here we are, the good old beta!! The big test for any game before it comes out and all i can say is…

What a great job you have done Ubisoft

definitely a step up from the Assassins Creeds and Watchdog

Set in a time when no one can be trusted and the world is just a big old corrupted place (not much different to now a days), this game really tests the pure instinct to survive in a destroyed and empty city. With customisable features (that weren’t fully up and running during the beta but will be on release) you are able to really get in the nooks and crannies of your character and build the ideal solider for you. Whether you want to be the solider with the stylish hair and hipster beard or the woman that still looks flawlessss despite the circumstances, this is all possible.

What i also loved about this beta or just the game in general to be honest was the amount of detail in the scenery. It really set the scale and size for the game and really gave that free roaming experience that extra bonus to just make you want to go out there any explore and the small touch of adding such realistic weather conditions was brilliant. I mean i am already impressed with the small things in the beta, so i can only just imagine what the final product should look like.

There is also a section called the Dark Zone that is the multiplayer part of the game, that just involves you surviving to be honest and trying not to go rogue. It has a whole different levelling up system and contains different areas like the contaminated zone which i am not too sure what that is yet but this type of game is loads of fun when you have a good little team with you to help you through against any mad rogue players.

Talking about combat, this beta definitely showed what The Division has to offered and i am super excited, despite the glitches (which is understandable in a beta) the games combat style is pretty nice actually! It plays pretty smooth and the futuristic style to the game definitely gives it that edge when playing (kind of reminds abit of Watchdogs in that sense but don’t worry, it isn’t like it in any way to be honest)

I think overall they did quite well with this beta and it has definitely made me even more excited for the final release of this game. This is definitely something people should be investing in this spring!! Hopefully it the final release just wows me even more!!

Recommended for anyone who really enjoy a good RPG, with endless gameplay and a big open space to explore and gain valuable loot and surprises.

FarCry Primal: Behind the Scenes

Game, Game Reviews, Upcoming Games

After my previous post talking about the infinite possibilities FarCry really having brining out a game like Primal. i feel this video gives me more confidence in them potentially pulling off the idea.

Really taking the idea of the primal man and how that can really create a fully immersive game for people to enjoy. The game is all about when man took ownership and started being the hunter rather than the hunted.

The game also provides players with a large variety of ecosystems that can vary based factors like if you are playing during the night and day. This is a feature i found very interesting and realistic.

Another realistic aspects is the way in which they allows players to build and craft their own weapons as they would in the Stone Age. As Jean – Sebastien Decant stated, there is only really things like rocks and bone that gave us some indication on what the world was like back then so that gave them alot of movement throughout the game to really try out new ideas and take a creative spin on how they would present the world in the game. This could come down to different things like the culture and there way in which humans would interact with each other etc.

I feel FarCry could really be on to another great game here and I can’t wait to hear more about this game. I also feel it will be interesting to compare to the upcoming game Horizon Zero Dawn by Guerrilla Games. Although Horizon is combining that primal feel with a more futuristic feel and the developers will be quite different in terms of playing style, i feel it will just be interesting to see how both games pull of the presenting that era to an audience.

Fingers Crossed

Game, Game Reviews, Upcoming Games

With animals being such a large part of all the Far Cry games, it is about time they really embrace that part of the franchise and really go forward with the idea of producing a game heavily dominated by your survival with these animals.

Especially with the time period they are working with, there will definitely be a beautiful array of animals to interactive with in this game (not necessarily all friendly ones).

sabertooth_hunt.0 FarCryPrimal_ConceptArt_05_Sabretooth_PR_151006_6PM_CET

I think with so many animals and tribal type vibes given off in the last game, i feel FarCry will pull off a game that looks really good and plays pretty well but story wise, i am not really sure how they will approach it.

I believe the game could could one of two ways:

Mind Blowing

The game could really incorporate features with the next generation console and really make use of the beautiful graphics and provide us with outstanding scenery and animals and introduce us to missions aren’t just using a grapple hook (very awkwardly) to get up a cliff. I really hope they make full use of the touchpad and really bring that into the game next year and just also give us a feel for a new sort of step for FarCry and really make it obvious that this is going to be something different.

The Same Old Thing

It is very easy for games to kind of give a whole new idea a go whilst still incorporated the best bits about their previous games. However i feel Primal could go either way and just be like all the other FarCry but we are not wearing tribal clothing, i think it is a great opportunity for the franchise to really broaden and branch off and bring in new fans essentially but it needs to take all the best bits of all the FarCrys and bring in some new features to really give this game its own identity (after all if they really wanted to make a whole new game it wouldn’t still have the FarCry title). I have heard comments of it being a bit like a Ice Age rip off but lets hope they conjure up an interesting story (with not too many side missions, please!) and really show us what the Stone Age had to offer

I think from what i can see in this trailer and the style in which Ubisoft produce FarCry games, I feel this could be a really good game next year. I can’t wait to see what else they will release and when we can all get our hands on some gameplay.

Overall, this has now joined the list of games that have either been delayed or are being released in 2016 that i just can’t wait to see and hopefully it will stay that way as the year progresses.

Maybe Next Time Ubisoft

Game, Game Reviews

When this game was first announced i heard great things about it. With the idea of co op being available for 4 players was something i was really looking forward to.

Being somebody who wasn’t original a Assassins Creed fan i think gave me a slight biased but reason to really be wowed by the game and really see what it had to offer. With Watchdogs being a fairly ok game (apart from the pretty good DLC) and i wasn’t really sure how this title would turn out but all i can say is that i am not impressed.

The trailer looked incredible and actually got me excited for the game but as soon as i saw the opening mission for the game i knew i wasn’t going to be blown away but i thought i would still give the game a chance but there was soooo many things wrong with this game they should of really just delayed it.

With such a beautiful location and so many things going on on the screen it is understandable that the game may struggle a little but this game struggled a lot. Some of characters in the crowd would glitches quite  a bit and things would just not look how a next gen game would be expected to perform.

Sometime playing the game would become difficult because climbing up building and windows would not be so straight forward as they should be and everything seem bait chopping and not as smooth as other titles or even Watchdogs released earlier this year.

The AI in this game was ok. It wasn’t awful but it wasn’t once again up to the standards i was expected. You could be standing right in front of a guard and they wouldn’t see you and you could perform a stealth kill with no problem.

Not only was the gameplay not so great, the cinematic were just as bad. At one point in a cut scene Arno face goes through is collar when kissing Èlise in one scene. Even how they walked around the game just seemed very dated and just overall disappointing for a game released this year.

Apart from the things listed above i wouldn’t say anything else was really wrong with the gameplay.

Well, i know i can always be a sucker for a good story and can essentially be won over by a brilliantly done story despite anything else but i really couldn’t get engaged with this story. I am not even really sure what actually happened in the story based on every mission basically being the same.

The story mainly focused on gaining intel from every mission to give you clues about who is involved and who to take out next. I think they could of improved this part of the game by maybe allowing you to take part in side mission to receive exclusive intel that can enable you to do better in the campaign or the storyline could of many different endings depending on who you decide is responsible or how many clues you discover. I feel this look on the game could of given more of a variation on the different type of missions that you take part in.

Also through the story you have this woman called Bishop flying in every so often telling your to jump through some white hole in mid air. This missions were quite interesting and could of been work on a lot more an expanded more into the main missions.

I also feel the lack of an engaging story also caused me to not really feel connected to the characters involved in the narrative. Although the dialogue was decently written i didn’t really feel that they came across as interesting and merely just seemed average and stereotypical. But i do like that they made a bad ass female but i didn’t really find her that amazing to be honest but i like that she held her own in the game and wasn’t a damsel in distress.

assassins credd

I also heard about the no face bug that happened in Ubisoft. This also disappointed me. The game just came across as something that doesn’t even really come close to any of the games released this year which is a shame. I can imagine the errors made on this game could possibly be forgiven if it had come out some time around the last generation console but this is brand new release that had plenty of time to work out how to perform best on the next generation consoles.

Well…i think we know what my overall point of view is on this game. I wasn’t happy and i think Ubisoft could of done a lot better and this is clearly shown in Far Cry 4 that was not long released after. But the performance for Assassin Creed makes me worry quite a lot about Tom Clancy. Tom Clancy is one title i am really looking forward and believe will do really well next but i guess who knows with Ubisoft right now.

I think Ubisoft could of looked in to make their game more varied in terms of main missions and creating a more unique and engaging story and allowing you to explore more about the characters and get to know them personally. It could of been more personal if the character we possibly more relatable.

For example if you look at Joel from The Last of Us. Although i am not a middle age guy from Texas…we got to see the complexity of Joel as a character and why he is the way he is and as the story went on we began to unpick him and release he is a big softy with a big heart that cares a lot for Ellie etc. Those are the kind of deep and meaningful stories i was looking for and is something Assassins Creed failed to do this time.

I also think less minor errors in this game would of helped it from being a slightly terrible game in my books. They we very minimal errors that didn’t really need to exist in this day and age and would of been worthwhile delaying the game a few months or so before release.

Far Cry 4 – First Look

Game, Game Reviews, New Release

Well doesn’t FarCry look incredible!!

To be honest with all the hype that was going for FarCry i wasn’t sure they would be able to live up to the hype and it might be another Destiny incident but it look great so far.

With Ubisofts not so great track record right now, i thought FarCry would come out just as bad as Assassins Creed but i was wrong and this give me more hope for Tom Clancy’s release next year. It is almost like the took all their sweet time working on FarCry and forgot all about Assassins Creed and making it look at least half decent.

The gameplay is incredibly smooth and plays really well. I love that although there is so much going on in one place on screen, the game is still able to perform at its best with no glitches or lagging.

The cinematics in FarCry are also just as impressive. Very well put together and very engaging. It is made in a way that is actually vital to the story and hard to skip rather than just something to pass the time until the next mission.

They also take full advantage of the FPS shooting experience. For example just little details, like when Pagan Min touches ‘your’ shoulder and you actually react and move. Although it is just a small the detail, it really counts to making the whole experience real and worthwhile and i guess the incredible graphics  on the next also help make the experience even better.

The location for Far Cry is incredible and gives the gamer such a lovely experience when you are running through the snowy mountains or running through the rich green areas surrounded by exotic animals whilst the sun slightly glints over the village like buildings.

As i said, ‘Troy Baker would not disappoint’ and so far he is going beyond what i expected of him for FarCry.

Pagan Min

What i think is brilliant is that you actually wouldn’t know it was him if you didn’t have the knowledge of knowing he would be the villain previously.

(I mean imagine Pagan Min face with Joels voice….yeah…it wouldn’t work.)

Although i have merely looked at the first few missions of FarCry, i believe Ubisoft and Troy have done a great job of already setting the standard for a very sick villain.

When i say sick, i mean in the way of being incredibly pyschopathic and insanely messed up. A villain with a very complex and dynamic personality is what really gives you that realistic feel about the character and instantly gain an feeling for how badass this villain is going to be.

The first few moments of meeting any character in a game, especially the villain because it really set the mood and feel for the whole game. A good first impression is what sets the different between actually having motive and satisfaction of that final boss battle.

Kyrat Ajay Ghale

I am not quite sure how i feel about the main character yet but i like that he is not such as wimp as how the last one started out and just bait normal i guess. Once a again, paired with realistic dialogue and beautiful voice acting, this character comes across very realistic to other video game characters created this year.

I also love how they introduced you essentially to your self through the crazy selfie that you take with Pagan Min. It was a nice and modern touch to the game.

What is to come?

i feel the introduction to this game has been a brilliant start and i can’t wait to see what will happen next. The story introduced is engaging and leaves you with sooo many questions such as:

  • What is so special about his father?
  • What is going on in India? And how is the crazy guy in control
  • Why did they kill that cute little monkey?
  • And how Badass is the main character going to get this time?

I can’t wait to see what is to come from Far Cry and whether it will continue with this great performance and end just as well as it has started

Rating (so far)

Assassin’s Creed Unity – First Look

Game, Game Reviews, New Release, Review

Hmm Assassin’s Creed. I have never really been a great fan but from what I have seen so far it doesn’t look bad.

I like how they showed you the history of the narrative and allowed you explore the beginning of the game with different characters. I feel this is a nice touch to the game but not impressive.

The combat in the game so far is quite smooth but not as smooth as it could be. It seems bait static and dated to be honest. I feel the combat could be better if you were able to do counter attacks and things like that but who knows, it could be something that is incorporated later on in the game.

I think the one thing that i do like is that you can nicely slide and pass over equipment as you run away from enemies and the AI in the game seems to be quite well made as well.

I don’t believe this game has got off to an amazing start. (Which is a shame because i great beginning to any game is something that really keeps me engage and interested) I think i will wait to see what the co op is like and then make a decision. It is only early days with this game but i am not too impressed so far.

There are elements of this game to turn my opinion around but i will just have to see how everything turns out and then make an overall decision.

So Far

Game, Game Reviews, Upcoming Games

After many months of getting my self together and discussing with a friend whether to actually buy the tickets or not. We finally took the leap of faith and brought two tickets to spend a Friday after in Earls Court…….but not everything was how i expected it to be.

Maybe i was just too excited for EGX but everyone just seemed pretty…….boring. I would of expected people to really be buzzing and looking forward to getting their hands on new games and demos but they just seemed like they were being forced to take part in EGX against their own will.

But i didn’t let that crusty atmosphere get me down. i continued to run around EGX and enjoy all i could of what was on offer.

FarCry 4

Hmmm…this was an interesting one. I guess i am already not a huge fan on FPS, so already i am not too keen on FarCry but after seeing the trailer and hearing that Troy Baker (the Brad Pitt of video games) was involved in the game, i had to check it out.

The game was really nice and combat was pretty smooth too. You were able to stealthy kill enemies from a decent distance and the enemies were not the usually dumb enemies that would look straight at you buy walk straight past, they actually would fight against you and make their kill and challenge.

Also, i believe this game should just get a 1 up for just allowing you to ride an elephant. That is awesome.

That loading screen….

literally, the loading screen was so long that people would walk away from the demo. i honestly don’t know anybody that likes a loading screen and this is honestly something they should consider looking at before the releasing the game.

Batman: Arkham Knight

After queuing longer than i should have and hearing “oh, it is just a couple of minutes longer” about a hundred times -.-, i was finally allowed to see the new Batman.

Well, i can say is that i was quite impressed actually. Although the enthusiastic and extremely excited speaker did help bring the awesomeness to the game, i was really impressed with the new features they added to the game.

  • Batmobile

That Batmobile was sooooo awesome and had little features that were really thought through in development. The design of the the Bat Mobile really compliments Batman in almost every situation….even combat.  batman could be knocking the brains out of and enemy and Bat Mobile would be happy to perform the final touch on the knockout. The Batmobile can even find you if you are not sure where you last parked it :O

The driving style can also be adjusted depending on the circumstance. For example if you find your self wanting to have more control of your driving in a tight space, you can adjust the wheels and make sure you don’t drop to your death in the Sexy Batmobile.

The Bat Mobile has just become more of an extension to Batman and makes the game even more enjoyable than it already is.

i actually just realised how much there is to say about the new Batman and i will probably have to make a whole new post for it. Don’t worry, i will post it as soon as possible.

BUTTT…back to the point of EGX, it wasn’t bad to be honest. i thought it would be better but maybe i just went at the wrong time or day but i think my next adventure shall be E3!!!

Overall i would recommend attending EGX but don’t expect any amazing and outstanding and don’t dress up or at least if you do, make sure you costume is incredible and there is no doubt you will win the cosplay competition….partly because nobody dressed up -.-

Far Cry 4 – Can Troy Baker do no wrong??

Game, Upcoming Games, Update

What a very well made trailer!!
Although i have never been a Far Cry fan, i have always loved the way they promote their game in their trailer. You really get a feel for characters and what they are all about and they really made an excellent villain in Far Cry.

I know there has been a lot of gossip going on about this game, especially the artwork for the cover but i feel this game is going to be a good one and once you know the villain is voiced by Troy Baker,….you just know it is going to be good.

I have also seen a bit of the gameplay, but i am still not convinced it is my cup of tea. I can’t wait to see more of this game and see what it has to offer. I have no doubt that it will be successful but for me…it has some big titles to go up against but i think Ubisoft have done a great job this year.

Watch Dogs, Film Adaptation…What?

Game, Upcoming Games

With Watch Dogs release on the horizon, it is exciting to now hear about a possible film adaptation.

Whether this game will be a success all will be judge once its release but after watch this video about the story behind Watch Dogs, i don’t see why it wouldn’t be a successful movie as well.

There is so much already been suggested and rumoured about this game, like the second instalment and now a possible film that i just want them to focus on the release of Watch Dogs and just see what response they get from the audience.
All the hype about the game could either really work in their favour or cause people to really build very high expectations.
